Story of my Life: The Very Abridged Version

Jenni over at Story of my Life has prompted blog world to awaken our hearts and get back to the soul of good writing. So often we get stuck behind a wall of writer's block so thick that we start writing nonsense with no direction, or worse, we write nothing at all. In an effort to rejuvenate our fervor for writing and to get back to basics of quality blogging, Jenni came up with fun writing prompts for each day of the month of May. Thus giving birth to the Blog Every Day in May Challenge! Since I'll be gone from blog land for a good chunk of this month, I won't be able to participate faithfully each day, but I have promised Jenni (and myself) that I'd write on the days that I could. So, without further adieu, in honor of May 1st and the beginning of #BlogEveryDayinMay, here's the story of my life in 250 words or less. This was a serious doosey to write, but I love a good challenge! Enjoy!

I was welcomed into the world just in time for dinner on October 16th, 1986. I was a happy, outspoken child living with my parents in a tiny yellow house in NC right beside my grandparents.

In 1990, the same year my little sister was born, we moved into a new house across town that my dad helped build. It's still the house my parents live in today.

In 5th grade, I won the D.A.R.E writing contest, had a poem published in a book, and met the man that would eventually become my husband. I wore jersey #16 on my middle school's basketball team, but hated every second of 8th grade.

I fell in love with David my Freshman year of high school and we followed each other to college just 4 years later. Sophomore year, D proposed, I said YES!, and we spent a year with our heads submerged in biology books and wedding magazines. We were married on a hot July afternoon in 2007, and upon graduating college in 2008, we both married into the US Air Force and moved to Virginia.

After 3 years adjusting to life as a new AF wife, battling with anxiety, and surviving a deployment, we got orders to move to Germany! We've lived here almost 2 years and have traveled to 12 different countries in that short time.

I'm a Christ-follower, passionate blogger, and perpetual traveler with an affinity for good food & wine, beautiful spaces, and weenie dogs named Tuck. This is the good life. My good life.

250 words...on the nose! And boom goes the dynamite. ;) Now it's your turn! Join in on the fun and link up your condensed life story on Jenni's blog today! To continue the writing party every day this month, check out all the daily prompts here. Happy writing, y'all!

  4. I love that you met your husband when you were so young. I can only imagine having the opportunity to live in so many places leaves you with mixed emotions. I also thinks its AWESOME that your parents are still in the same home. I would LOVE for for my boys. I think.

  5. The pictures that accompany this post are wonderful. How fun that you met the man you married in fifth grade - I think that I might spend a good part of the day thinking about what would have happened if I married anybody I knew in fifth grade. Great picture at the end - enjoy the travel and Germany, it all sounds amazing!

  8. Loved your life story :) I really think this challenge is going to be good for so many bloggers who are participating. It is important to just buckle down and write more content saturated posts rather than those filler posts with no direction. And you, Casey, truly are a great writer, so I know I'll love reading on the days you do participate.

  18. Wow, there are quite a few parallels in our lives! My parents also built our house (I still live at home). I won an essay contest and a poetry contest when I was in Grade 5 or 6, and had both published in essay and poetry anthologies. I was not a fan of Grade 8 either. It is fun what we can learn about each other through posts like this! I really enjoyed yours.
