FRESH FACE FRIDAY [& Blog Hop]: Meet Casey & Erika

Hi everyone! Happy Friday to ya! Anyone have anything exciting happen this week? Us either. Well…I lie. I was able to do something really super special for D this week and it kind of earned me the greatest wife ever award. I scored him a Saturday call-in for a beer pickup at Westvleteren Brewery for his birthday! To those of you who aren't tuned in to the Belgian beer community, Westveletern beer (even more specifically, their Westy 12's) is highly coveted by many around the world because it's brewed by monks in an abbey and is incredibly hard to get. The only way to get this beer is to make a call into the abbey and drive there on a specific day to pick up only 2 crates within a 2 month period. Trying to get a call-in is like trying to crack the Da Vinci code. No joke. There's only one phone and one monk answering it…so you can imagine the kind of calling traffic jams this creates. I've tried twice in the past month to get a call-in for D, but failed miserably. Suddenly, the opportunity arrived again on Wednesday and after 15 minutes and just 35 redials, I got through! A birthday miracle!! So, D and I will be driving up to Belgium for a little weekend beer excursion next weekend. The birthday boy is more than thrilled to check this beer-lover's adventure off his bucket list…and I am standing proud in the fact that I made it happen for him. Toot, toot!

Another fun thing that's worth noting this week…we finally tried the German Domino's pizza. A Domino's pizza shop opened up downtown a little over 6 months ago, but us being the skeptics that we are, never ordered a pie. Just like with Mexican food here, we figured this Domino's would be German-fied and taste nothing like the good stuff we're used to back in America. I totally wasn't in to cooking one night this week, so D bit the bullet and ordered from the German Domino's. Come to find out…it's not too far off from the real thing! It came in the typical blue and red Domino's box and had the same crust (just missing that garlic seasoning they've started using back home). One BIG difference we noticed was that this pizza wasn't half as greasy as a Domino's pizza would be back home. This was a good thing and a bad thing. Grease adds flavor…so it was a little blah in the beginning. But after the 3rd or 4th bite, I didn't miss the grease. In fact, after eating half the large pizza, D and I felt like we hadn't gorged ourselves because it wasn't oozing with cheese and grease like the US version. Will we be ordering from the German Domino's again? Absolutely! If you're in Wiesbaden, I suggest you order, too!

Ok, enough beer and pizza chit chat (are you guys hungry now?)…before you start your weekend, head on over and get acquainted with the two bloggers below and link your own space up to the Fresh Face Friday Blog Hop! It's the last one for January, so don't miss your chance to make new friends this month! If you'd like to get on board as a Fresh Face for Feburary or March…use code LETSDOTHIS and grab a spot at 30% off from now till Sunday! Happy weekending to all!

Meet & Giveaway Saturdays!

Happy Saturday, my dear friends! I hope you find yourself having a lovely weekend so far! Me? Well, I'm sitting on the couch with my pup, enjoying a cup of coffee while my mommy makes me my last home cooked breakfast here in America. Tomorrow I make the 9 hour flight back to Deutschland where I'll finally be reunited with my handsome hubby, who I've missed so much! As excited as I am to return to Germany, my heart is also heavy as I leave North Carolina, once again. This time, I have no idea when I'll be coming back. What I do know is that it'll be a good while away...like a year or more. And that makes me all kinds of uneasy. I've got my fingers crossed that another opportunity like the one I've had these last two weeks will present itself again before a year has passed by, but one can never tell. So, for now I'm making the most of my last 24 hours here at home and looking forward to all the exciting trips we have coming up in the next few weeks. Countdown to our big 12 day Mediterranean cruise...45 days! Eeeek! Now, enough about me, come meet and greet with my oh so wonderful March sponsors! Funny thing is, the majority of these ladies are either currently expats or were former expats! One thing they all have in common? Their love for travel. Girls after my own heart, for sure! Make sure after getting to know the girls that you enter to win the awesome items they're giving away at the bottom of this post. Aren't bloggers just the most generous bunch of people in the world?! Off you go! :)

blog//twitter//instagram
My girl, Nicole, is living the dream in Spain and writing all about it on her fabulous blog, La Mia Vita. Nicole originally hails from San Francisco, but has made Madrid her home away from home while she finishes her Masters degree. Not a bad place to go to school, if you ask me! On her blog you'll find recaps of her travels, a look into Spanish life, and some really, really stunning photography. Make sure you check out this post from her trip to Nerja, Spain. Mind=blown!

blog//facebook//instagram
Next we have the fun loving, Belinda, who made the journey all the way from Washington state across the pond to a life of adventure in the United Kingdom! She's newly married to her hubby, Neal, and has quite the compilation of wedding advice for new brides-to-be on her blog. This girl knows her wedding stuff! She also has me wanderlusting to get myself back to England for a visit. Well, there, and Ireland...and Scotland...the list goes on and on! Head on over and say Cherrio!

blog//twitter//facebook
Gorgeous Nadine is the brains behind the Back East Blonde blog...a creative space where you can find a super fun love story, a cute pup named Archie, and lots of really fabulous budget-friendly outfit posts like this, or this, and I can't forget about this one! I need Nadine's closet to be my closet, for reals. Come follow along with Nadine as she navigates life with her newly live-in boyfriend and as she tries to change the world one non-profit at a time. She's got a heart of gold, this one!

blog//twitter//instagram
This beautiful gal is Melissa of A Mile in Her Boots blog! Melissa is a sweet buck-eye girl who writes inspiring posts about her journey to achieving better health & fitness, traveling around the West Coast, and paying it forward with 31 random acts of kindness (loved this post!). In her little slice of blog world you'll also find cute outfit posts about how to dress for success and a list of her favorite "must have" beauty products. I've got a few of those products on my shelf as well! Head on over and get acquainted, y'all!

blog//twitter//instagram
Next up is the sweet-as-pie, Cortne, of the new up and coming blog Coco in Magnolia! I've actually had the pleasure of talking with Cortne a bit via Google Hangout and it's easy to see, she's got a passion for blogging that's unparalleled! Girlfriend is funny, too! When you visit her blog you'll find a wide variety of fun posts that'll suck you in...I personally love this post about being fierce and reconstructing how you think! Bravo, Cortne! Go make friends, y'all!

 blog//twitter//instagram
Betsy Transatlantically is a blog written by, you guessed it, Betsy! She's and avid blogger and a DC native who finds herself turning expat from time to time as she plans a wedding to her handsome Englishman in London! When she's not navigating the wedding planning world, Betsy writes a lot of thought-provoking, insightful posts...some of my favorites being her thoughts on blogging, taking her husbands name when married, and breaking down Britishisms. Want to follow along with her journey? Head on over and say hello!

 blog//twitter//facebook
Nicole blogs her adorable heart out over at the newly re-named Pearls and Prosecco blog. She is a fellow military spouse and expat transplanted from Florida to Northern Italy! Over on her little slice of blog land you can find lots of amazing European travel posts and updates on her ever-changing life as a military wife. Oh, how I can relate to almost every post! My personal favorite? This post on her recent trip to Bruges, Belgium. I adore this city! Add this one to your bucket list, friends!

blog//twitter//instagram
And finally we have the lovely, Belle, of Finding My Virginity. Belle is quite a mystery to me, as "Belle" is not her real name and she never shows her face, a fact that I find a very refreshing and fun departure from the blogging norm. Belle is a former French expat who recently made her way back into the blog world! Yay! On her blog, Belle writes candidly about her life as a virgin and the social criticism that goes along with it. She's also a literature lover and shares many of her book reviews on her blog! I love finding new reads from her insightful book breakdowns. Make sure you take some time out today to stop by her space and say hello!

Meet & Giveaway Saturdays: Love Edition

I realize it's Sunday and not Saturday, and this post was supposed to go up yesterday, but Poland abducted me Friday night and held me hostage amongst its pottery filled cities until late last night. Me and my pierogi filled belly are not complaining. But I am going to give Meet & Giveaway Sunday's a go instead this weekend. I hope you'll take some time and visit all of my fabulous February sponsors and make friends. They're a great bunch of gals to know! Also, make sure you enter to win the fun stuff they're teaming up to giveaway at the bottom of this meet & greet post. I only wish I could enter myself! Happy Saturday (ahem, Sunday), my friends!

Hi! I'm Nicole from La Mia Vita. I moved from California to Madrid last year to get my Master's in Bilingual and Multicultural Education, teach English, learn Spanish and most importantly travel! It's been an amazing adventure and still lots more to come!

What is your idea of the best romantic date ever?
Hmm, let me try to remember what going on a date is like...I would be very happy with any fun outdoor day. Wine tasting in the napa vineyards, followed by a romantic dinner and more wine in front of a fire. A hike along the coast with a bread and cheese lunch. A whole day at the beach ending with a sunset walk and s'mores. I am most happy when he puts thought and effort into the date, no matter what we do. And if it happens to be a Pinterest inspired dinner on the water surrounded by twinkle lights and candles, that's awesome too :)

I'm Lauren and I blog over at Tennessee Honey. I'm a wife, mother of two, full-time student, and just your general nerd. My blog is a lifestyle blog, in which I post about a recipe I've tried, music I'm loving, a book I've read, or just about my life in general.

What is your idea of the best romantic date ever?
My ideal romantic date would be to first off, lose the kids. Well, not necessarily lose them and not be able to find them, but just get rid of them for the night, preferably with a grandparent. A quite dinner, a movie, and a late night trip to Starbucks would be perfect for me! I'm simple.

My name is Brittany and I blog over at The Domestic Geek about the adventures that come with motherhood and marriage, and of course I blog about video games because I'm slightly obsessed with playing them. I have monthly gift guides for your gamer guy and I have some video game tutorials geared towards women who have never played video games before in the works (so you can kick your mans butt at his favorite games!)

What is your idea of the best romantic date ever?
The most romantic date I've ever been on was my 2 year dating anniversary with my husband. He took me to an adorable little town, and we explored all the shops on their Main Street. We bought all kinds of cute things for our new house, checked out some candy shops, and I even picked out my wedding band from the cutest jewelry shop! It was so nice just spending the day wandering around a town we didn't know very well.

Hey y'all!  My name is Gayle, and I blog at Grace for Gayle -- a place I describe as authentic, honest, and encouraging. By day, I work in HR as a Compensation Analyst; when I'm not there, you can find me at the gym, blogging, doing church things, reading, doing my nails (obsessed!), hanging with my BFF, and of course loving on my sweet little fur-babies (4 of them, 1 crazy me). I truly hope to see you around my blog, and if you visit, be sure to sign up to receive some G-Mail!

What is your idea of the best romantic date ever?
I don't have a specific answer, plus I'm single at the moment.  I will say being the person in past relationships who usually was the planner and the "romantic" type, I would LOVE to be swept off my feet, and have him plan out a full day-date with all different activities.  Something personal to me, that he knows we would enjoy together.  I would love to see what he came up with for us to do, AND it would be really meaningful to be romanced like that.  Acts of service, one of my love languages!

I'm a middle school teacher and busy mom of 2.  I use my powers for good by blogging about the ways we save time, money, and sanity at our house!

What is your idea of the best romantic date ever?
Well, at this point, being able to take a nap without anyone touching me or waking me up would be super romantic. That's probably not what my husband would want me to say, though. So I'll settle for a quiet stroll along the Mediterranean coastline, holding hands, and then having a picnic on the beach.  Perfect. With the nap afterwards.

Hola! I'm Dominique blogging over at The Adventures of Holly. I like to think of myself as a Christ loving, adventure and travel seeking (paragliding, anyone?), mishap expert, and life lovin' gal living in Seville, Spain for a year as an au pair while taking care of three crazy kiddos! You can find me blogging about travel, language barriers, cultural differences, my random and crazy thoughts, and everything in between!

What is your idea of the best romantic date ever?
Hmmm, how about we wake up early and hop on a plane to the Swiss Alps and go skydiving? Then, we unwind in the Arabic Thermal Baths in Seville, Spain. Next, we make our way over to Harrods in London for high afternoon tea. After that, we'll head to Tuscany, Italy to go wine tasting in the vineyards. Then who wouldn't want to go to Paris, France for a romantic dinner at the foot of the Eiffel Tower? And finally, we'll end our night at the Igloo Hotel in Finland staring at the stars and Northern Lights. In my dreams, haha!

Hi Ya'll! My name is Cortne and come on in! Pull up a chair, relax, and kick up your heels (or in my case boots) and take a peak into my 'lil lifestyle blogging world over at Coco in Magnolia. As we say in the South, everything about life comes through a story. We will gab about adventures in travel, the occasional (but not always successful) DIY, crafts with the munchkins, healthy (sometimes) eating, and mindful moments that might just bring a smile to your face or a tug in your soul. Thanks for stopping by!

What is your idea of the best romantic date ever?
My idea of the best romantic date would be: an afternoon of beer golf with the hubbs, followed with dinner at my favorite Mexican restaurant with the hubbs and munchkins (I don't have those munchkins for long, they'll move out one day!), and then home to snuggle with my man.

Just a Few of My Favorite Things & a Giveaway!

Hi friends!
Let's give a warm welcome to my January Feature Sponsor, Erin! She's got a few fun things to share with you today...and a really generous giveaway, too! Take it away, girl!

I'm Erin and I blog at Just a Few of My Favorite Things! I'm excited to share a little about myself on Casey's fabulous blog!

I have many favorite things I love to blog about including:

My favorite nail polishes--I have a substantial collection of nail polishes and probably what many would say is too many bottles of Essie nail polish, but they are just so cute and I love their hilarious names.  My current favorite one is Trophy Wife--what a great color!

My favorite books: Nicholas Sparks is my absolute favorite author! Although his books usually make me cry, he is SUCH a good writer! Safe Haven is one of my favorite books by him and it's also being made into a movie that's coming out soon!

My favorite sports team:
I've been a Washington Redskins fan for most of my life and my family has season tickets, so I get to go to lots of their games each year, which is always a blast! One time I got to go on a behind-the-scenes tour of the locker room, which was sooo cool! (Unfortunately a super handsome/successful Redskins player did NOT immediately fall head over heels for me and ask me to marry him, which was kind of my secret hope. Actually it wasn't a secret because I talked about it possibly happening practically all day, haha!!)

And my favorite hobby: I love anything arts-and-crafts related and today I thought I'd share a cute and SUPER easy craft that I've seen hopping around Pinterest: making an adorable to-do list using scrapbook paper and a picture frame!

Here are the supplies you'll need:
- scrapbook or colored paper
- a picture frame (I found this one for about $5 at Kmart!)
- tape/scissors
- Sharpie marker
- Dry Erase marker

First, you need to select the paper you want for your picture frame To Do List (I am totally not exaggerating when I say this was the hardest part of this little project).

Take out the paper that comes in picture frames to measure out the right size and then cut out a piece of the scrapbook paper so that it will fit in the frame.

Take your Sharpie and write "To Do" on the scrapbook paper before putting the paper into the frame. (I taped mine down before closing the frame because I didn't want it moving around, but I don't think it will matter too much if you don't!)

Ta-da!

Now you have a really adorable and easy to see To-Do list! And if you use the dry erase marker to write ON the frame glass, it will rub right off! Seriously, how easy and fun was that??! I actually did this for my two best friends as part of their Christmas gift and they loved it! :) (Or at least they told me they did....haha ;))

Thank you Casey for letting me hang out on your blog today!!

Happy to have you, Erin! Please head on over to Erin's blog and leave her lots of love! OH, and don't forget to enter to win a few of Erin's favorite things in her giveaway below!

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot
Hello! I'm Kristen of Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. I'm an Army wife/blog designer who's living in Germany for the next few years! I am obsessed with all things Harry Potter, sharks, and our Puggle, Monster. I hope you'll follow us along on our adventures in a new country!
What are two things you are most thankful for this year?
-I am thankful for being able to live in such a beautiful country and experience a new culture...as well as my amazing family that I am so lucky to have!

Sunkissed with a Twist
Hey y'all! My name is Nicole and I blog over at Sunkissed with a Twist. I love writing about makeup and fashion, my immense love of football and things I believe in, and the awkward and awesome moments in my life. Funny combination, huh? I am a college student, so studying consumes my life these days, but I have lots of exciting pictures from my travels in Germany, the Bahamas, and much, much more coming soon! Be sure to make your way over, say hello, and hopefully stay awhile! I can't wait to meet you! :)
What are two things you are most thankful for this year?
-I am incredibly thankful that I was accepted to Texas State University and can't wait to start the spring semester there! I am also forever thankful for my amazing family and loving boyfriend. They are the best part of my life!

Miller Mémoires
I'm Lauren and I blog at Miller Mémoires. Two years ago my husband and I set off on an adventure of a lifetime. We packed up our belongings and moved across the world to a little island called Taiwan. When the main the language is Chinese and there's rarely another foreign face in the crowd, we've had our work cut out for us. As students, English teachers, and even models, we have grown to absolutely love it here. I blog about culture here on-island, travel, and life in general.
What are two things you are most thankful for this year?
-I am always especially thankful for my family and friends. Even from half-way around the world they still manage to be supportive and involved in my life.  It's always hard to be so far away from them for the holidays, but they skype me in on Christmas morning!  Thank goodness for the internet. We've just been so blessed over here that it's hard to narrow it down to just a couple.  I'd have to say that lately I am very grateful for our new apartment. We've finally settled in to a place that feels like home and are here for the long haul.

Quiet Galaxy
Hi! My name's Holly. I'm a twenty-something year old mom to a wild little toddler, wife to an admittedly nerdy IT guy, small business owner, and student (who's still trying to figure out a major). I blog at Quiet Galaxy as a way to keep track of the little things -family adventures, favorite books and blogs, and my photography.
What are two things you are most thankful for this year?
-My family, undoubtedly. They are everything to me! And my customers at Lit Prints, who've supported my dreams and motivated me to start creating again.

Brownie Diaries
blog//twitter//instagram
I'm Kaity, and I'm the girl behind Brownie Diaries. I blog about style, food, travel, and all the random happenings in my life as a college senior. I'm a French student, an aspiring doctor, and an overall awesome person [obviously]. I wear a lot of dresses and skirts and tights. I'm obsessed with stripes and finding cute free fonts. I love John Krasinski and watching television and taking pictures [mostly of flowers]. My blog is full of random facts like these about my life, so please come by and say hello!
What are two things you are most thankful for this year?
-I'm always thankful for my family - I know it's kind of a boring answer, but I will never stop being thankful for the wonderful family members with whom I have been blessed. On a more materialistic note, I'm incredibly thankful for my fancy camera. I swear, that thing is like my baby. I love how it allows me to document all the things I want to remember in life.

Mi Todo
I'm a 25-year-old lawyer, mom, and Marine wife. In the next month I will be moving across the world to a country I'm not allowed to name yet. My blog is a way to record and share my adventures through pictures and writing.
What are two things you are most thankful for this year?
-The birth of my first child in March and the opportunity to move overseas!
Jessica Lynn Writes
blog//facebook//instagram
Ciao, new friends! My name is Jessica and I'm the gal behind Jessica Lynn Writes. My little humble abode on the interwebs is a hodgepodge about life, love, and everything in between. My husband and I live in Italy, courtesy of the Air Force, but are already venturing on a new adventure: we're welcoming a baby girl into the world at the beginning of 2013! When I'm not shopping for cute onsies, wishing I could drink vino, and Skyping with my deployed husband, you can find me sharing snapshots, travel adventures, pregnancy tales, and much more on my blog!
What are two things you are most thankful for this year?
-I'm thankful for my husband. We may have an untraditional marriage, thanks to the military, but he's seriously the ketchup to my French fries. Even from far away he's "here" for me in more ways than I can count. I'm incredibly blessed to have him in my life. I'm also thankful for the inventor of TUMS. I'm totally, 100% serious. I want to give that man/woman/team of amazing people who came up with it a ginormous hug. Every time I pop two little berry-flavored pieces into my mouth, I breathe a sigh of relief knowing my heartburn will subside in a matter of minutes.

Taking Notes...Coast to Coast
blog//facebook//pinterest
Hi! I'm Danielle, the author behind the lifestyle blog, Taking Notes...Coast to Coast! I'm a newlywed that likes to dabble in cooking and the occasional DIY project. But mostly, I enjoy spending my free time cuddling my hunky, flannel wearing, wood chopping hubby and our cute Golden Retriever pup, Huckleberry!
What are two things you are most thankful for this year?
-I am so thankful for my loving, supporting family and coffee! Very, very thankful for coffee.

Just the Two of Us
Hey. Hey. Hey. I'm SarahJane and I blog over at Just the Two of Us. My cute husband and I recently moved away from everything we have ever known in the good state of Utah to...the sunshine state for his graduate school. Our blog is all about our adventures in life and if you're lucky you will get a good recipe/craft/DIY now and then, too. :)
What are two things you are most thankful for this year?
-I am so grateful for a supportive family. Now that we are so far away, we miss them so much more. And we are grateful for all the love they send our way! I'm especially grateful for the amazing man by my side. There is no way I could be so far from family without him. He is the one who always brings home sunshine. :)
