Celebrating 7 Years: Real Life & a Walk Down Memory Lane

I woke up this morning so irritated at D. Last night was our last night sleeping on our comfy rental mattress. We have to give it back today and start sleeping on an air mattress again (our stuff STILL isn't here--shoot me). Instead of sleeping soundly (like one hopes to sleep their last night of comfort for a while), I slept horribly...mostly because D stole all the covers. Blanket, sheet...the whole shebang. I tugged and fought the sleeping bear, but continually lost. He happily snored away, oblivious to my dilemma...and I shivered all night until I finally got up to find another blanket. Naturally, after getting up, I couldn't fall back asleep. Story of my life.

D got up at his usual time to get ready for work. I silently rejoiced that he was gone. I was ready to get one solid hour of good sleep in before I needed to get up myself. Unfortunately, sleep alluded me again, so I rolled out of bed and grumpily made my way downstairs for breakfast. When I walked in the kitchen, D was standing there with a sheepish look on his face. He knew I hadn't slept well...and he knew I was going to give him crap about it. But before I could get an angry word out of my mouth, he walked over gave me a big 'ol D-sized hug, and said "Happy Anniversary, my love. Best 7 years of my life!"

Well, dang it. Not only did he steal my furied thunder, he made me remember what I forgot--our 7th wedding anniversary. I mean, I knew last night that our anniversary was today, but in my fog of annoyance and lack of sleep, I forgot. We'd also kind of already celebrated our anniversary last weekend at Disney, so again, I forgot. The look on his face, the words he said...how does one yell at another after such a sweet morning greeting? One can't. So, I held my tongue. Then, he handed me a hot cup of coffee, fixed just the way I like it, and all that anger I woke up with just washed away.

This is what 7 years of wedded bliss looks like, folks. Waking up on the wrong side of the bed, forgiving cups of coffee, and eating crow after your husband remembers an important milestone and you...well...don't. Most days, you'll see all our bright-shiny marriage moments. Those are my favorites to share. You bloggers know what I mean. We looovee to share the good...what bad?! There's no bad! Just don't look behind the curtain. Even after all the years we've spent together (13.5 including the dating years), the gosh honest truth is...we don't always get it right. We argue and bicker, we overlook and forget. We nitpick and hold grudges, we say things we don't mean and let our own agendas overshadow the important moments in life. This morning, I almost let something so silly as a bad night's sleep tarnish the beginning of a special day. Thankfully, D knows me better than anyone and knew just how to melt my icy attitude with a few simple words.

Even in the not-so-shiny moments, one truth remains constant--our love and respect for one another and our marriage. This morning, I felt 7 years of hard work, trust, and heart-racing, passionate love bear-hug me right there in our kitchen. No amount of lost sleep could be more important those 15 seconds. So, I swallowed my grief, smiled up at D, and thanked him for giving me the 7 most incredible years of my life. We drank our coffee, ate our eggs, and I sent him off to work with one heck of a kiss. I'll suffer through 100 more years of crappy sleep if it means I can wake up to that man every morning. And that's also the gosh honest truth.

Happy 7 years, best friend. You make me better. Everyday.

And now for a fun & embarrassing walk down 7 years of memory lane....

With A Thankful Heart

I've been sitting here staring at the blinking cursor on my screen for about an hour now. Sometimes the words just won't come. Sometimes they've already been said and are just as relevant now as they were when I first said them. Seems to always be the case when I want to write about Thanksgiving. All the things I'm thankful for, I've been thankful for having the last 3 years of my life. Heck, for some things, even longer. I feel silly beating a dead horse. You know I'm thankful for my amazing husband, the opportunity to live abroad, my family, my friends, our health...all the things that make this life so good, I'm absolutely thankful for. But I guess the trick is genuinely being thankful for each of these blessings more than just one day a year. Why don't we write about all the ways we're thankful any other time of year? Are we any less thankful on St. Paddy's Day? Do we forget our blessings in June? Not likely. Life gets busy, days get shorter (or at least they seem to), and while it may not be intentional, we let Thanksgiving bare the weight of all our thankfulness for the entire year. Seems a shame America is so keen on skipping right over it. Poor Thanksgiving.

As I've been prepping for our last Thanksgiving abroad, I've also been reflecting on how amazing this past year has been, all the places we've visited and the mercy we've been shown. But as I've counted my blessings I've felt convicted in not sharing my thankfulness the whole year through. I, too, am guilty of letting the 4th Thursday of November solely bare the weight of my gratitude. That's when the thought hit me like a ton of bricks (the Lord is always good at that ton of bricks thing with me)...Thanksgiving should not be just a day, but a season. We should be shamelessly thankful all year round, no matter the day or the month or the condition of our hearts. Gratitude magnifies the good things in our lives. Life tastes better, looks better, and feels better with perpetuity of thanksgiving. Filling a moment with thanksgiving adds meaning to otherwise meaningless activities. Gratitude also helps us to endure the hard parts of life with dignity. We cheat ourselves when we choose to express our thankfuness just once a year, not to mention the ones we owe our gratitude to as well.

This year, I decided to give Thanksgiving a fighting chance. As much as I wanted to bust out my Christmas tree, forget the turkey (which I already can't stand anyway), and get on with my favorite holiday of the year, I'm taking time to savor Thanksgiving and its purpose in our ever-busying lives. Instead of expressing gratitude today only, I'm committing to sharing more of my thankful heart throughout the other 364 days of the year. I challenge each of you to a season of Thanksgiving, not just a day. Embrace the joy that a lifetime of thankfulness brings.

Well, that's all from Germany! I'm signing off for the rest of the week to be fully present in Thanksgiving this year. Here's wishing you full bellies and blessings this holiday season! Until next week...
Happy Thanksgiving, from our table to yours!

Mushiness For Your Monday

Guys, my heart is bursting at the seams with all the love floating around me this weekend! D and I had an AMAZING time celebrating our 6th wedding anniversary in France...we can't believe it flew by so fast! We both have been to France before, but had never experienced the French countryside and little villages along the Route des Vins d'Alsace (Alsace wine road). After being in Alsace for all of 5 minutes, I think I might have found a new favorite village. Riquewihr gave my beloved Rothenburg ob der Tauber a good run for its money. Cuteness overload! Not to worry, friends, I have quite a few photos and some Alsace recaps to share with you (eventually), but for now, in case you had a brain fart and aren't following me on Instagram (ahem)...below are a few photos from our enchanting weekend touring French wine country. It was unbearably hot (I'm talking 104ºF on Saturday), but somehow this cute boy got me through it. Well, him and the wine. Wine always helps. ;) I also wanted to thank each and every one of you who sent us "Happy Anniversary!" messages, tweets, and congratulations yesterday and throughout the weekend. You added so much more happiness to our special weekend! Yet another reason why the blogging community is so amazing to me. You celebrate when we celebrate. I big puffy heart love you all!

An Extraordinary Love

I have an extraordinary spouse. D has never been one to stay within the confines of just being "great"...he's always excelled at whatever he does; whether it be duties of the Air Force, school, or courting me, he's always put his best foot forward. When D and I got married at the ripe old ages of 20 (me) and 21 (him), we already had a great foundation. After dating for almost 7 years throughout the most formative years of our lives, I knew exactly how he ticked, and he knew exactly what ticked me off. They say that the first year of marriage can often be the hardest one of all, but that wasn't true for us. Growing up together made our first year utterly blissful. We finally got to experience all the things we'd been dreaming about for so many years as young kids in love. We had the cozy little apartment that we decorated, just the two of us. We had the sweet little puppy that we took care of like a child. We cooked dinner together, hung curtains together, and sat out on our patio mulling over our days with a glass of wine together. All the perfect little things I'd always wanted to do with my soul mate. Little did I know that those sweet simple moments would be just the tip of the iceberg of how wonderful D is to me. How extraordinary of a husband he's been in our almost 6 years of marriage.

There's quite a bit of backstory here (mostly stories no one knows), but hang on, it will all come full circle! When we got orders to Germany in the spring of 2011, we were both ecstatic. We'd been praying for months to be stationed overseas and God was faithful in granting us our heart's desire. I knew moving to Germany would mean my career as a Nutritionist would be put on hold, but that seemed like a small sacrifice to make to follow D around the world for a few years. In fact, it didn't seem like a sacrifice at all. It sounded like a dream! And it has been. But it hasn't always been an easy dream to follow. Stepping back from my career plunged me into a bit of an identity crisis shortly after finally making the move abroad. I was virtually alone here. No job, no routine, no friends (at the time), and no real sense of direction for my life. Yes, we were still adjusting to living in Germany and planning as many trips around Europe as we could stomach, but during the week...when D was at work and I was home, alone, just me and my thoughts...I felt lost. I did a little bit of job searching, but it always proved to be fruitless. Finding a job here within my career field wasn't going to be possible. And working at Burger King didn't seem like a step in the right direction for me either. So, I turned to blogging. I had started my blog almost as soon as we got orders to Germany just to keep my family and friends updated on our move and adventures abroad. I didn't have any aspirations to turn it into a business at the time, nor did I even know anything like that was possible. Blogging was just a hobby to me. Another ho-hum activity that was there to drive away boredom. I felt others viewed my new hobby that way, too.

Do you want to know what my LEAST favorite question in the world was after moving here? "So...what do you do all day long?" Anytime I heard that question, my heart sank into my chest. Before moving to Germany I could have said, "I work everyday from 8-5, then I hit the gym for an hour, go home, make dinner, plan for the next day's work, spend time with D, and hit the hay." Those first few months here in Germany, if I didn't lie to save my pride, my answer would came out panicked and veiled with shame--"I wake up, go to the gym (maybe), clean the house (if I hadn't already made it spotless the day before...I mean, how much can you clean one small apartment?), I'd blog (but not wholeheartedly), then wait around the house mindlessly watching TV or playing on Facebook until D got home and I'd finally get some human interaction." The looks on their faces were either of pity or jealousy. Jealous for the life of leisure; to spend days doing whatever one wanted. Although in my mind, there was nothing to be jealous of. Pity was more the feeling I felt, and it was like a dagger to the heart every time someone else shared those same thoughts about my daily routine. I was living proof that the grass isn't always greener.

Thankfully, D was always there to rescue me from my self-loathing. All the insecurities I felt about my new roll as a stay at home wife, D was quick to shut down. He appreciated that I kept our home neat and tidy. He didn't care that I'd still be in my pajamas when he arrived home from work. He comforted me as I navigated myself through feelings of worthlessness when all I had done that day was check the mail and put makeup on my face. But in the back of his mind, he knew I wanted more. He knew that to be the best version of myself, he'd have to push me. But he also knew I needed time to search my heart for direction. And so that's what he gave me.

I went back to America for two different weddings just 2 months after moving to Germany. One wedding was for my cousin and the other for my best friend. They were two months apart, so I decided to stay in NC with my family from the middle of August to the beginning of October. All the while, D was still in Germany starting his new job. Alone. D knew I was struggling a bit (silently to the rest of the world), and completely supported my trip home for such a long period of time. He hoped it would allow me to regroup and come back to Germany with a fresh set of eyes, ready to take on my new life abroad.

During my time at home, I pretty much stopped blogging. I kept telling D during our daily phone conversations that I didn't feel inspired to write anymore. It was fun for a while, but my insecurities were starting to cloud my vision and I wanted to throw in the towel. I'd warped myself into thinking everyone who knew I blogged, thought that it was silly. Just a silly little thing Casey was trying to do to keep herself busy. It's true what they say--whatever you feel about yourself, you convey that to the world, and they start believing it too. I was my own worst enemy. I had changed, my thoughts and love for blogging had changed...but D wasn't going to let me stay that way. That's when he put the bug in my ear that changed the whole blogging game for me. "Make it your business, babe. Build your readership and make it something you look forward to nurturing each day because it's your own. Turn what you love into something you are proud of. No one could fault you for that." Those words struck a cord in me. I could turn this "hobby" into my business. I could create my own income and fill my empty days with the endless opportunities that blogging creates. I needed to squash my insecurities about not contributing to our family in a significant way. And so the passion began stirring again. I got excited...D got excited...and then we prayed. Feverishly. Soon after, we knew the steps I needed to take and we devised a plan to propel me to my new goals as a blogger. The words "blogging" and "hobby" together, were never spoken from my mouth again.

Coming back from the states was going to be the test. All the things we'd prayed over and talked about were going to be put in motion after I stepped off that plane back in Germany. I felt ready, but D wanted to make sure I was ready. This is where I hope my long winded story starts making sense! As I walked back into our half decorated apartment after 2 long months away, D told me to cover my eyes. I thought he had graciously unpacked all the crap that was still in boxes and wanted to surprise me, but the surprise I got was even greater than that. D walked me over to where our living room ends and our sunroom begins. There was a curtain over the sunroom entryway (one we had hung together just months before), and stuck to the curtain with a flimsy piece of tape was a sign that read, "Casey's Office." I peeled back the curtain and before me was a new chair, a desk, and a brand spanking new iMac computer. Taped to the top of the computer monitor was a note that read, "Your dream starts today!" Tears form in my eyes every time I think about it. D created a space for me to blog, to write, and to start feeling good about myself instead of wasting away into the insecure Casey I was becoming. He dressed up the desk with notepads and pencils; anything he could think of to spark my creativity, and more importantly, make me feel valuable again.

From that moment on, D has been the biggest cheerleader for me and this blog. He sat with me as I cried about blog designs, inspired me through bouts of writer's block, celebrated with me as my readership grew and I made my first ad sale, and talked me off a ledge when I thought about closing up shop in moments of self-doubt. He's my most faithful reader...having read every single post (without me pestering him about it, too!). When I was working towards hitting my 1,000 follower mark, he would call me from work each morning and say "857!" and I knew he was watching my blog grow just as intently as I was. Those are just a few of the many examples of his continuous support in this endeavor he sparked. When I found that quote from Fawn Weaver on Pinterest this morning, I knew I had to share this story about my amazing husband and how this blog really came to be what it is today. To D, I owe this whole creative space. The success, the klout, the passion...all because he cared to take interest in my wellbeing as his wife. To him, my soul mate, I feel the deepest gratitude for his unwavering faith in me, even when I had no faith myself. Once again, he brought me back from turning into the worst version of myself and has continually kept his promise of "for better or for worse."

Today (in case you were wondering), I embrace my life as a stay at home wife and almost full-time blogger. It took some time to realize, but it's been the greatest gift D's career in the Air Force could ever have given me. I used to feel bitter about being the "dependent," the spouse who's always flailing in the wind, changing their plans for the greater good of the military. But, knowing my husband supports me and wants to see me successful and happy just as much as he loves and fights for his country, makes the struggle to find my purpose all the more worth it. When you have someone walking beside you, encouraging you to be the best version of yourself even amidst so much change, you've got an extraordinary love.

D is extraordinary in every sense of the word. I'm so blessed and honored to be loved by him.
To the moon and back, my love! xo

Is your spouse extraordinary? How so? Share your story with me!

PARIS: Locking Our Love on the Ponts des Arts

In Paris, there stands a bridge. A bridge covered in padlocks of every size, shape, and color. But these locks aren't ordinary locks...locks that keep away trespassers or ones used for hiding things behind closed doors. These locks are locks of love. Locks that are symbolic of the commitment between two souls bound together by the ties of the heart, left on the Ponts des Arts bridge to show the world a love no one can break. Written on the faces of the locks are the names of those who've found their heart's desire. The keys to them lie below, floating along the current of the Seine River, never to be found again.

D and I left a lock, our lock, on the Ponts des Arts bridge our last night in Paris; something we'd always dreamed of doing if we ever found ourselves in the city of love and lights. It was a special moment we shared with two dear friends of ours, who also left a lock on the bridge themselves. As we stood there, throwing our keys to the bottom of the Seine, memorializing the life we'd built together, passers by gave their congratulations. Some even clapped. It was impossible to wipe the smiles off our faces. It's amazing how something so silly as leaving a lock covered in Sharpie on a bridge can bring all the feelings of bliss from our wedding day back to my mind. The love, the commitment, the congratulations...all while standing on an old metal bridge in Paris. It's a moment I'll soon not forget. If you ever find yourself in love and in Paris, take your special someone on a romantic stroll to the Ponts des Arts and leave a lock of your own. I hope one day to return to see it still hanging there as a shining symbol of my unfailing love for D.
The Eiffel Tower may have all the glitz and glamor, but it's got nothing on the sacred beauty of this bridge.

Meet & Giveaway Saturdays: Love Edition

I realize it's Sunday and not Saturday, and this post was supposed to go up yesterday, but Poland abducted me Friday night and held me hostage amongst its pottery filled cities until late last night. Me and my pierogi filled belly are not complaining. But I am going to give Meet & Giveaway Sunday's a go instead this weekend. I hope you'll take some time and visit all of my fabulous February sponsors and make friends. They're a great bunch of gals to know! Also, make sure you enter to win the fun stuff they're teaming up to giveaway at the bottom of this meet & greet post. I only wish I could enter myself! Happy Saturday (ahem, Sunday), my friends!

Hi! I'm Nicole from La Mia Vita. I moved from California to Madrid last year to get my Master's in Bilingual and Multicultural Education, teach English, learn Spanish and most importantly travel! It's been an amazing adventure and still lots more to come!

What is your idea of the best romantic date ever?
Hmm, let me try to remember what going on a date is like...I would be very happy with any fun outdoor day. Wine tasting in the napa vineyards, followed by a romantic dinner and more wine in front of a fire. A hike along the coast with a bread and cheese lunch. A whole day at the beach ending with a sunset walk and s'mores. I am most happy when he puts thought and effort into the date, no matter what we do. And if it happens to be a Pinterest inspired dinner on the water surrounded by twinkle lights and candles, that's awesome too :)

I'm Lauren and I blog over at Tennessee Honey. I'm a wife, mother of two, full-time student, and just your general nerd. My blog is a lifestyle blog, in which I post about a recipe I've tried, music I'm loving, a book I've read, or just about my life in general.

What is your idea of the best romantic date ever?
My ideal romantic date would be to first off, lose the kids. Well, not necessarily lose them and not be able to find them, but just get rid of them for the night, preferably with a grandparent. A quite dinner, a movie, and a late night trip to Starbucks would be perfect for me! I'm simple.

My name is Brittany and I blog over at The Domestic Geek about the adventures that come with motherhood and marriage, and of course I blog about video games because I'm slightly obsessed with playing them. I have monthly gift guides for your gamer guy and I have some video game tutorials geared towards women who have never played video games before in the works (so you can kick your mans butt at his favorite games!)

What is your idea of the best romantic date ever?
The most romantic date I've ever been on was my 2 year dating anniversary with my husband. He took me to an adorable little town, and we explored all the shops on their Main Street. We bought all kinds of cute things for our new house, checked out some candy shops, and I even picked out my wedding band from the cutest jewelry shop! It was so nice just spending the day wandering around a town we didn't know very well.

Hey y'all!  My name is Gayle, and I blog at Grace for Gayle -- a place I describe as authentic, honest, and encouraging. By day, I work in HR as a Compensation Analyst; when I'm not there, you can find me at the gym, blogging, doing church things, reading, doing my nails (obsessed!), hanging with my BFF, and of course loving on my sweet little fur-babies (4 of them, 1 crazy me). I truly hope to see you around my blog, and if you visit, be sure to sign up to receive some G-Mail!

What is your idea of the best romantic date ever?
I don't have a specific answer, plus I'm single at the moment.  I will say being the person in past relationships who usually was the planner and the "romantic" type, I would LOVE to be swept off my feet, and have him plan out a full day-date with all different activities.  Something personal to me, that he knows we would enjoy together.  I would love to see what he came up with for us to do, AND it would be really meaningful to be romanced like that.  Acts of service, one of my love languages!

I'm a middle school teacher and busy mom of 2.  I use my powers for good by blogging about the ways we save time, money, and sanity at our house!

What is your idea of the best romantic date ever?
Well, at this point, being able to take a nap without anyone touching me or waking me up would be super romantic. That's probably not what my husband would want me to say, though. So I'll settle for a quiet stroll along the Mediterranean coastline, holding hands, and then having a picnic on the beach.  Perfect. With the nap afterwards.

Hola! I'm Dominique blogging over at The Adventures of Holly. I like to think of myself as a Christ loving, adventure and travel seeking (paragliding, anyone?), mishap expert, and life lovin' gal living in Seville, Spain for a year as an au pair while taking care of three crazy kiddos! You can find me blogging about travel, language barriers, cultural differences, my random and crazy thoughts, and everything in between!

What is your idea of the best romantic date ever?
Hmmm, how about we wake up early and hop on a plane to the Swiss Alps and go skydiving? Then, we unwind in the Arabic Thermal Baths in Seville, Spain. Next, we make our way over to Harrods in London for high afternoon tea. After that, we'll head to Tuscany, Italy to go wine tasting in the vineyards. Then who wouldn't want to go to Paris, France for a romantic dinner at the foot of the Eiffel Tower? And finally, we'll end our night at the Igloo Hotel in Finland staring at the stars and Northern Lights. In my dreams, haha!

Hi Ya'll! My name is Cortne and come on in! Pull up a chair, relax, and kick up your heels (or in my case boots) and take a peak into my 'lil lifestyle blogging world over at Coco in Magnolia. As we say in the South, everything about life comes through a story. We will gab about adventures in travel, the occasional (but not always successful) DIY, crafts with the munchkins, healthy (sometimes) eating, and mindful moments that might just bring a smile to your face or a tug in your soul. Thanks for stopping by!

What is your idea of the best romantic date ever?
My idea of the best romantic date would be: an afternoon of beer golf with the hubbs, followed with dinner at my favorite Mexican restaurant with the hubbs and munchkins (I don't have those munchkins for long, they'll move out one day!), and then home to snuggle with my man.

The Valentine's Day Q & A Vlog!

Truth: Vlogging is fun. Weird, but really, really fun. Before we sat down to record this thing, I was a ball of nerves. D? Cool as a cucumber. This coming from the guy who just a week before was trying to come up with ways he could get out of it, and now he's the one all Rico Suave about it? Please. He was trying to make me look bad. ;) Really though, having him right beside me, acting like a goof, made this whole vlogging thing a whole lot easier. Well, him and the wine, but that's beside the point. I don't know what I was so worried about! I'm pretty sure D had a blast, too. I mean, the boy couldn't stop looking at himself in the computer screen. And he brought props. PROPS! I almost fell out of my chair. I think he's been watching too much Jimmy Fallon. It is safe to say that this whole vlogging experience wasn't as bad as either of us had pictured. In fact, we can't wait to do it again! So, before you play this super awesome vlog, there are just few things you should know:

1// It's almost 17 minutes long. I don't really know what to tell you except that neither of us know when to shut up. How long is a vlog supposed to be anyway? Is there a rule? No one gave me the vlogging handbook. It's our first one, so you'll let the lengthiness slide, won't you? It'll be worth every second you watch, I promise.
2// Please ignore my "duh" moment halfway through the video. I swear I'm not always so dense. Some things just dawn on me at the most inopportune times. Keepin' it real, folks. Just keepin' it real.
3// We had Pandora playing Hall & Oates in the background the whole time, but you can barely hear it. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. I'm going to go with good. We're probably the only people in the world that still love Hall & Oates. And we're ok with that.
4// Don't loose your mind trying to figure out where that *ding* is coming from...it was on the video. I kept getting emails and my iMac was kind enough to inform me.
5// What you see is what you get in real life, people. I wanted this vlog to feel like you were right there with us, chatting it up on a typical night just hanging out in our living room. I'm sure the people who know us in the real world can attest to this...D really is that mushy and I really do have awesome hair, all the time. This vlog was no exception. ;)

So, without further adieu, our V-day Vlog.
Happy L-O-V-E day, from our living room to yours! xoxo

Valentine's Day Q & A VLOG from Casedilla1016 on Vimeo.

Oh and FYI, for those of you that submitted all those awesome questions, I haven't forgotten about our little deal! During the next vlog, we'll pick one name out of the bowl-o-questions (including those people who's questions were answered in the vlog today) and that person will win a free month of Large ad space on the blog! So stay tuned!!!

The Thankful Post

{I actually wrote this very post a year ago last Thanksgiving...but when finding the words to express what I'm thankful for this year, no words rang truer than those I wrote last year. So, I added a few words and a bunch of new photos and voilà, the thankful post was re-born! It's amazing to see how even though life has changed so much over the last year, the same thankful heart still remains.}

...My AH-MAZING husband. He's the peanut butter to my jelly, my favorite travel buddy, and the best smelling guy around. God broke the mold when He made D, and He made him just for me. I'm quite sure I'm the luckiest girl in the world. Postitive, actually. I couldn't imagine spending one second of this life without him...and we've built an awesome one together. 12 years together, never wavering, and he still gives me butterflies. Talk about some good, good lovin'. I love you more today than yesterday, D...until my forever ends.

...Our wonderful, loving family. D and I are so blessed to have the most caring, thoughtful, and close knit bunch of knuckleheads we've ever met to share our lives with. You guys keep us grounded and remind us of the blessed life we come from. You're absolutely the bees knees and I thank my lucky stars God choose you to be our family. All of you. Even you, Wendy. :) Though we can't be there to share in all the food eating, Christmas decorating, and Catch Phrasing that's sure to happen this evening, just know we're there in spirit (probably kicking your butts too!). The most important thing in life is family and we've got a great one! See you all at Christmas!!

...Our ever-growing gaggle of friends! You guys have been so supportive and so understanding of what this crazy Air Force life has thrown our way these last 5 years. You cheer us on and keep in touch no matter the circumstances or the time of night (darn you 6 hour time difference!). I freakin' love that. Each of you are important to us in your own special way and I hope you know your friendships are cherished, so much, and we're grateful you deemed us worthy of sharing your lives! I know we don't get to see most of you often, but with friends like you, when we do get together, it's like no time has passed. That's true and beautiful friendship.

...Our sweet Tucker dog. He melted our hearts forever when we brought him home (a week before Thanksgiving) 6 years ago. OMG...that sweet puppy face. I tear up just thinking of him! We miss him, terribly. Every. Single. Day. But we both find comfort in knowing he's very loved and well taken care of with my parents back home. He gets all the belly rubs and soccer ball throwing sessions he could ever want living there with Grandma & Grandpa! We are so grateful to you for taking care of one of the most precious parts of our hearts, Mom and Dad!

...Our health. So many people take that for granted these days. I'm glad D and I have had no major medical problems (thus far). We continue to treat our bodies with respect and hope to be able to use them for as long as God will allow us. I know that sounds so weird to say, but other's aren't so fortunate. I'm also thankful for the health and well being of all of our family and friends. Take your vitamins, exercise, and eat healthfully, people!

...Technology. A strange thing to be thankful for, but without telephones, Facebook, Skype, and this very blog, I don't know how D and I would ever make it out here. After the "Dark Days" of no internet that we experienced this past September/October, I've grown to appreciate technology so much more. Keeping in contact with the those we love is SO important to us. With all these avenues of communication, we don't have to miss babies being born, hilariously themed parties, Thanksgiving dinners, or weekly calls with girlfriends. We love keeping up with every joyous occasion as well as tribulations in all of your lives and we're thankful we're able to share the same with you!

...D's job. While military life can be chaotic and ever-changing, it's provided us with a steady income in a messed up economy, a sense of pride that can only come with serving a purpose greater than ourseleves, and a number of outstanding opportunities to experience a life we never thought possible...most notably living in Germany and traveling Europe! As much as we both miss home, miss the holidays with family and friends, and spending time with each other when the Air Force calls...I wouldn't change a single thing.

...Our gracious and merciful Heavenly Father. Without His constant love and guidance, D and I would be two hopelessly lost people. We may not be the best Christians in the world, but our God is forgiving and patient. He loves us unconditionally, faults and skeletons aside. No matter the day, the hour, or the minute, He is with us. That brings me peace. God always provides for us both and never ceases to amaze us with his many blessings on our family. I find so much comfort in knowing He knows everything about us, every fiber of our being, and He created us in His perfect image so that we might find joy and happiness among the trouble and despair of this Earth. I know He has great plans for our lives and I'm so thankful for His teachings and His presence in our family. I'm also thankful to both of our parents for instilling the need for God in us and for taking us to church every Sunday to learn His Word. We are lucky to have parents who care about the well-being of our souls. We are also blessed to have such wonderful examples of Christian marriage. Our cups runneth over!

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever. -Psalms 118:1

As you can see, even with life's uncertain and hectic nature, we all have SO much to be thankful for. In addition to each of these things, I would also like to thank our United States military for all their sacrifices throughout the year. I know many of you are without your loved ones and missing holidays to fight for our great country. That never goes unnoticed in our home. Thank you for all you do to defend our freedom!

Happy Thanksgiving, to each of you! May your bellies and heart's be full today and everyday! Lots of love from Germany!
