My Top Ten Places in the World
I am a small town girl that wants to explore the world one memory at a time. After I got married I was blessed with the initials EAT, so there the idea for my blog. EAT All Over The World is all about our adventures, packing up, exploring, and learning other cultures. I have been really lucky to get to get to go to some amazing adventures in the last ten years, so here is my top ten list. My motto for life is "Make Memories" so here is some of by best places to make memories.

(I learned the hard way to back up my computer, every picture I had before 2006 I lost. Back your pictures up)

Hwy. 1 , U.S.A.

Siem Reep, Cambodia

Queenstown, New Zealand

Whitsunday Islands, Australia

Virgin Islands

Salzburg, Austria

Niagara Falls, Canada

Home

This list was really hard to make. I have been lucky to travel around Central America, U.S.A., Canada, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. As you can see only one place on my list is an actual city. I am not a real city person. I love being outdoors and getting to enjoy life  I love exploring the world, making memories, and enjoying life. Like what you see? Taking the Road Less Traveled in Paris with Belle Brita [& a Giveaway!]

Bonjour, y'all! My name is Brita, and I blog at the Christian feminist lifestyle blog Belle Brita. Once upon a time, I lived in France, but I fell in love with an American. We recently moved from Ohio to Georgia, so now I'm exploring a whole new state! At Belle Brita, I blog about a little bit of everything, but mostly relationship advice and feminism. Oh, and you might have seen me on The Huffington Post! In my pre-blogging life, I lived and worked in France for the better part of two years, first as a live-in au pair and then as an English Teaching Assistant. These jobs gave me plenty of time to explore Paris and to discover some of the lesser-known highlights of the most beautiful city in the world. Are you planning a trip to Paris? Do you want to see more than the Eiffel Tower and the Mona Lisa? Consider visiting the following lesser-known Parisian attractions!

Want to do something different in Paris? Visit these 5 attractions!

Musée Marmottan Monet

See the painting that launched Impressionism

If visiting l'Orangerie and the Musée d'Orsay doesn't quench your thirst for Monet and other Impressionist artists, then you must visit the Musée Marmottan Monet. This museum owns the largest collection of Monet paintings in the world. As a huge fan of Impressionism, I particularly enjoyed finally seeing the Monet work that gave name to the movement. Early Impressionists weren't exactly appreciated during their time. One art critic reviewed a show that included Impression, Soleil levant (Impression, Sunrise) and works by Degas and Renoir, among others. In his mocking review, he called the show Exposition des Impressionnistes (The Exhibition of the Impressionists). The name stuck!

Parc des Buttes-Chaumont

Discover a natural oasis amidst the city of Paris

I spent countless Saturdays exploring the lush green landscape of Parc des Buttes-Chaumont. Other lazy Saturdays involved a picnic, a book, and a best friend by my side. Features include the Temple de la Sibylle, a grotto and waterfall, and beautiful bridges. Views from the temple are incredible! You could easily spend an entire day here and not get bored. If you're in a hurry to see everything in Paris, this is a great place to stop for a picnic lunch for just an hour or two.

Canal Saint-Martin

Enjoy a romantic stroll

I didn't actually have a romantic stroll along Canal Saint-Martin when I lived in France. I was very much single during those two years, so all strolls were just with good friends. Still, visiting Canal Saint-Martin is a great alternative to walking along the Seine with all the other tourists. Canal Saint-Martin is home to quirky boutiques, fun bars and restaurants, public gardens, and charming bridges. It's also another great location for picnics.

Rue Mouffetard

Shop at one of France's famous outdoor markets

Rue Mouffetard is a charming French street in the Latin Quarter. Many of the shops are basically expanded market stalls. The fresh market is open six days a week, closed Sunday afternoon and all day Monday. If you've never visited a French market, you're in for a treat! An amazing selection of cheeses, a huge variety of produce, both raw and salted meats, roasted chickens--any fresh food item your heart desires. Rue Mouffetard also features a variety of bars, cafés, and restaurants. My friends and I spent many a cold winter afternoon nursing drinks at Student Bar, which boasts a generous happy hour.

Musée de Cluny

Admire the famous unicorn tapestries

I couldn't resist including just one more museum. Museums are among my favorite Parisian attractions, but most of them are too famous for this list. La Dame à la licorne (The Lady and the Unicorn) is a series of six tapestries on display at the Musée de Cluny in Paris. Sure, the museum displays all sorts of other cool medieval art, but the tapestries are my favorite.

Have you ever been to Paris? What were the highlights of your trip? I would love to hear what other people love about my favorite city! As a big MERCI to Casey's readers for making it this far, I'm giving away 2 months of ad space on my blog, plus $10 in PayPal cash. Bonne chance! P.S. Even if you don't feel like entering the giveaway, you can keep up with me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or Bloglovin!

Favorite Travel Photos with Laugh Anyway (& a GIVEAWAY!)

Greetings from Seoul! Casey has been kind enough to let me take over her blog for the day, so I'm going to introduce myself and keep it short and sweet! I'm Yalanda and I'm the voice behind Laugh Anyway. I write about the things and places I love....and that gives me a lot to talk about! I happen to be one of those people who has 10,000 favorites and rarely enjoys making decisions when I have to choose one of anything. That said, I've enlisted my husband to help me narrow down 3 favorite travel photos from my most recent posts.

Yangmingshan National Park // Taipei

Boseong Tea Fields // South Korea

Fushimi Inari Shrine // Kyoto

Fushimi Inari Shrine

I hope you've enjoyed your mini tour around Asia! When we aren't scooting around Seoul, squeezing short lived international trips into long weekends, or teaching the most adorable children in the world {seriously, these kids are totes adorbs...so much so that an annoying phrase is the only way I can describe it}, we tend to enjoy low key time at home. You know, Netflix, reading, painting...well Jason's painting, not me. You see, we also happen to have an Etsy shop. I convinced Jason that one lucky reader should absolutely be the recipient of one of his custom watercolor illustrations. I didn't even have to twist his arm!

CustomWatercolorGiveaway

One reader will receive a custom watercolor portrait! It doesn't have to be a couples photo...love your dog? That's fine too. Have a great photo of you and your friends from vacation? Done and done! Good luck and thanks for reading!

A Travel Bucket List with Laughter is Catching

My name is Laura, and I have a confession. I’m addicted to travelling, and as I get older its got worse. The more money I earn the more places I want to visit, and despite being newly married (under three weeks ago) we aren’t dreaming of houses with gardens, but extended honeymoons in South East Asia. If the world is your oyster, please can you fill my handbag with them?

So, I thought that today I would share with you my two favourite places to travel, and two places I am desperate to get to this year. In the last twelve months I have seen the sunshine in San Diego, been a native in New York (well, for six weeks at least!), visited Vancouver, fallen in love with Iceland, navigated Norway, popped my Paris cherry and adored Matera in Italy, all while holding down a full time job working with bloggers all over the world (check us out here!)

Reykjavik
via
Iceland was like nothing I expected and everything I imagined all rolled into one. The sun rose at eleven am and set at four pm, and in those sparse daylight hours the rugged, volcanic landscape astounded me. We hunted for the Northern lights, tripped the Golden Circle and visited a geothermal power plant to see how the islanders get their heating. I love the fact that the island has polar opposites; volcanic mountains in the middle with flowing lava and ice caves and glaciers. My favourite part? I’m not going to say the Blue Lagoon, although amazing, but the geysers and Thingvellir (where the two tectonic plates are pulling apart). Iceland, we will meet again.

Matera, Italy

Another one on the not expecting it to be so fantastic sheet, Matera blew my mind. We stayed in the UNESCO protected Sassi in a cave hotel, complete with air conditioning and wifi, and spend a long weekend checking out the set for the remake of Ben Hur and exploring abandoned caves. If you need a European break steeped in history, then try Matera. (read my original post here). But in the spirit of a thirty before thirty list, there are a few places I would love to get to:

Bora Bora
via
Said to be an ancient geological phenomenon, Bora Bora looks like paradise to me. The white sandy beaches and clear blue waters would be a great place to get through my reading list but at a 26 hour trip from London, I might wait till we move to the States and get a little closer!

Macchu Pichu, Peru
via
Oh goodness, this one is getting to me. My Dad is off there in June and my sister is due to visit later on in the year, and I have a massive case of the green eyed monster. The Aztecs have always had me enthralled, and so Macchu Pichu is a must see before I die.

How about you? What country sits at the top of your travel bucket list?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thailand and Chile are high atop my list!
Thanks for inciting a little wanderlust in us all today, Laura!
Happy Friday, everyone!

Happiness Advocate: Uncustomary Art

Hey there, lovelies! I'm Uncustomary, and I'm so happy to be guest posting on this wonderful blog you follow! I live in Baltimore, Maryland and I'm an advocate for happiness and living your life the way that's the most fun for you. For me, happiness is found in things like street art, snail mail, and practicing self love. I wanted to outline some ways you might be able to bring more joy into your daily lives!

Celebrating
Guest Post on We Took The Road Less Traveled | Uncustomary Art 100 Ways To Celebrate Life
We tend to wait for big events to celebrate, but guess what? It doesn't need to be a wedding or birthday to put on a party hat! Check out this giant list of unusual holidays. For example, today is Groundhog Day but it's also Crepe Day and Play Your Ukulele Day! You can celebrate those so easily!?But also just being alive is a reason to party. Put mini umbrellas in your drinks and dance in store aisles! The world is your playground.

Practicing Gratitude

Guest Post on We Took The Road Less Traveled | Uncustomary Art

Keeping a happy journal changed my life. I write at least three things that made me happy everyday in my journal, and it's made all the difference. It has made it easier to focus on positivity and find the sparkly linings in potentially miserable situations. I can't recommend making gratitude a priority in your life enough. However you decide to show your appreciation for this life you have is brilliant!

Spending Time With Animals

Guest Post on We Took The Road Less Traveled | Uncustomary Art

Animals make this world so much better. They're all beautiful, and if you get the chance to cuddle up with a little fur ball, by all means do so! You're going to feel so much love in your heart that it's going to be really difficult to not smile. PS - this is Bug, my cat!

Exploring Locally

Guest Post on We Took The Road Less Traveled | Uncustomary Art

You don't have to get on a plane to become an explorer! There are tons of amazing things to look at and search through in your general location! If you're in the states you might want to check out Roadside America to get you started. Once you realize that there's such cool stuff within a reasonable distance of your doorstep, you'll be more inclined to find these things on your own-- without predetermined GPS coordinates!

Getting Weird
Guest Post on We Took The Road Less Traveled | Uncustomary Art 5 Ways To Live Eccentrically
I embrace my weirdness, and believe an eccentric life is the best kind. I encourage you to try something silly or strange this week, and I'd love to hear what you do! If nothing else, it will make for a great photo-op and memory for you (and whoever witnesses it)! Examples of weird things I've done have been "drinking" Windex out of the bottle, dressing up like a Troll doll and hanging out on a bridge, and covering myself in temporary tattoos. I touch on a lot of these topics (and way more) in my e-mail subscription "Inspiration For Your Inbox". Today I'm going to be giving away one of those subscriptions (that you can choose to be delivered to you daily or weekly) as well as one month of my Monthly Marvels surprise package subscription ($30 value).

a Rafflecopter giveaway
So never let anything get in the way of your joy! Being happy and positive is a choice and a skill. And feel free to be my friend online! Thanks for having me today!

Experiencing Taiwanese Night Markets with Boy & Girl Globetrot

One of my favorite ways to get to know a country is through its markets.
And nothing can introduce you to Taiwan quite as well as a Taiwanese night market.
Usually, these markets are wedged down alleyways off of really busy roads and crammed in between tall, dilapidated apartment buildings.
They are crowded, humid, smelly, loud, and rudimentary.
I often feel like I float through one, kind of like the picture above suggests.
And every time I leave one, I am a little shell shocked by my experience.

At the market, scooters weave in and out of people.
Pig heads and chicken feet hang out in the open.
Locals bombard you with their excitement and jibber-jabber at you in Chinese.
Sweat drips down your back and beads on your forehead.
Scents, some delicious and others not so much, overwhelm you.

What is for sale at these traditional markets?
Fruits + veggies + meats + tofu + noodles + seafood.
Usually, I don't buy anything.
Instead I just take photos of it all.
Which includes the adorable dogs that are helping their owners strum up good business.

Taiwanese markets may be a little dirty and stinky, just like Taiwan itself.
You may get really overheated and sweaty.
And sometimes you will brush more than just shoulders with the people around you.
But they are still something extraordinary to be experienced, even if only once.
