Say Bye Bye to No-Reply!

First of all, can I just tell you all how utterly and completely floored I am about the response I got to yesterday's post? I had no idea so many of my fellow bloggers felt the exact same way I do! I'm not gonna lie, as the comments started pouring in, I totally gave myself a weird bear hug all alone in my living room yesterday afternoon. And then I woke up this morning with some unsightly hair and a dorky huge smile on my face from all the comments and emails I received overnight. I'm reeling from all the blogger love you've given me over the last 24 hours. Consider my mind=blown. My heart is so full because you guys totally get it...and that gives me hope for this blogging world! My faith and fire has been renewed, ten-fold! And it's all thanks to each and every one of you that took the time to comment, tweet, email, and share my post on Facebook. My comment bank is totally overflowing. I wish I could give each of you a weird bear hug, too. But for the sake of keeping you as my friends, I'll just settle for replying to each of your sweet comments as soon as time allows.
Which brings me to my next point of business....

No-reply bloggers. I told you boogers that I was coming for you! Booger is a term of endearment in my house (even as gross as that sounds), so I say all of these next few sentences with love. If I had a nickel for every comment I received from a no-reply blogger, well, I'd have an annoying jar of nickels laying around the house. And nothing gets on my nerves more than a jar full of change I can't even use. Precisely why not being able to comment back to a loyal blog follower frustrates me to no end. I got a comment from a reader once that basically blew me away for never responding to any of her comments. Of course, I had to just sit there and take the beating because she was a no-reply blogger and I had no way to tell her I couldn't respond back to her! Cue the pulling out of the hair. It's a vicious cycle, people. I get a lot of really wonderful comments and then I feel like such a putz when I can't express my gratitude for said comments. I swear I'm not ignoring you, it's just that I'm stuck behind this proverbial wall yelling "THANK YOU!" and "I KNOW, RIGHT?," but you can't hear me! Well, no more, folks! I think it's high time we knocked down that wall and get our fellow bloggers the comments they deserve. If you're new to the blog world, think you've been dissed by every blogger in town, or you have no idea what in the heck I'm even talking about right now, you're probably a no-reply blogger...and you need to pay close attention to the things I'm about to show you. This will save your blogging soul!

STEP 1:
*If you have your blogger profile through Google+...follow the directions in this post instead*
STEP 2:
STEP 3:
STEP 4:
Although I think this one's a given...
STEP 5:
STEP 6:
STEP 7:
Jump with joy because you are now no longer a no-reply blogger!! YAY!!

It's true. He wants this for you just as much as I do.
So, there you have it no-repliers! You now have the tools to un-banish yourself from the land of no response. Your thoughtful comments won't be in vain for much longer! Follow those 7 simple steps above and you'll be getting replies back from me and your fellow bloggers in no time! And just so you know, I can't wait to tell you how much I love you. It's been all bottled up inside me for wayyyy too long. Oooo, but wait, one last bone to pick! This is a quick note to tell all you CAPTCHA bloggers to simply...stop it. I'm not a spam bot, just a girl who wants to leave you a comment without having to give my computer the stink eye just trying to decipher those tiny, blurry letters! My annoyance with CAPTCHA (a.k.a. word verification) is just about up there with that unsightly jar of nickels sitting on my dresser. I want to tell you I love your new dress and how I'm gonna try that chicken recipe you posted...but I'm not going to jump through hoops to do so.
Check out this post for step by step instructions on how to turn that darn thing off.
Your followers will thank you. Promise.

Whew!...now that that's off my chest, I'll step down from my soapbox and leave you with these final words: in addition to making this the year of meaningful interactions among bloggers, let's also make this the year that ends the plight of the NO-REPLY blogger! Create a post, inform your readers, join the movement, and spread the word.
We can beat this thing, I just know it. :)

  1. I was one for awhile but it was because I had switched from my Blogger Profile to Google + profile and it just messed everything up. But now that I'm back to Blogger, we're good.

This is a question a lot of people have tough, so great cover of it!

  2. So if I typed right here & said all sorts of witty things and didn't follow those 7 steps beforehand, nobody could hit reply to this and virtually high 5 my awesomeness? Because if that's the case the bone should be picked w/Blogger itself. WordPress doesn't suck like that. I think you should relocate. {Only w/out all the movers & outprocessing}. ~ Dee

  3. I was a no-reply until a couple weeks ago when someone kindly told me I hadn't set up my e-mail address! I was also a CAPTCHA victim until about 2 minutes ago... Oops!! I get annoyed by the verifications every day and little did I know I was a part of it myself!

  4. I have never even heard of this no reply thing! I also use wordpress where i dont think there are such issues. Thanks a lot for writing a post about how to sort it out!

Also, so pleased that there is no CAPTCHA here. I share your feeling about those things! I downloaded special software called RUMOLA to read and fill them in for me because when you follow a lot of blogs they slowly grind you down and drive you insane. Turn them off bloggers!

Ps. If you want to try the software get it at skipinput.com Its very good!

  9. As a fairly new blogger, I'm fortunate to have been clued in to the no-reply issue early on. Now that my blog is growing and I regularly receive comments, I realize what a bummer it is when I can't interact with a reader and acknowledge their kind words. I also did away with word verification, despite the fact that I regularly receive Viagra ads in my comment section. At least someone is looking out for my relationship. :) Discovered you through the Life of Bon giveaway (and proceeded to stalk your blog)...I look forward to reading more!

  10. I've just had a comment left on my last post by someone who is new to blogging. They have made 5 posts so I read them all and then drafted out a response to their comment and mentioned some stuff they had put on their blog only to find out they are a no reply blogger. I'm not sure if she knows so I have commented on one of her posts and linked her to this post incase she wants to change it, your post came at just the right time :)

  12. I think it's a thing that should be described more on the profile page. When I originally set up my account years ago, all it asks was if you want your email shown. Of course I said no. I'm thinking more SPAM? My inbox can't handle that. Little did I know it meant I was a No-Reply girl. I was like that for years. I just changed it a few months ago!

  13. I love this! No reply makes me so sad because I ALWAYS have something to say back and I feel so rude!

  14. I used to be so paranoid that I didn't have everything set up right so I would be the dreaded no-reply blogger. I never realized how frustrating it was until I replied (in a long email) three times in one day and they were all to no-reply bloggers. Now I always try to check the email before I even start typing.

Also, I haven't been blogging for long at all and I'm already frustrated with the follow me back comments. Its really discouraging, especially when you don't have many followers, to see that most of the comments say that. Especially when you realize they didn't follow you in the first place. Thanks for your posts!

  18. I am totally with you on the no-reply. I get so sad when I'm unable to respond to emails... And then it makes me feel like a ba blogger.

And THANK YOU for speaking out on word verification. Ug, it's so annoying!

I appreciate your feedback, friends! I read every comment and try my hardest to respond to each one, but if your email address isn't attached to your blogger profile, you might find my response in the comment thread instead. As always, thanks for reading!
