Nove, Italy: Ceramic Shopping Heaven


During my fabulous Italian Blate with my dear friend Jess, we made a trip to Nove to do what all 20-something gals do while traveling...SHOP! Nove is a small town in Northern Italy known for its amazing ceramics. Some of the world's best-loved kitchenware sellers get their goods from different ceramic houses all around Nove. In fact, I scored myself the cutest honey pot normally sold in Williams-Sonoma stores at a price point of $20...for 6 euro! This lace-imprinted coffee mug is sold for $35 a pop at Arte Italica online...I snagged it for 4 euro. Same for this Arte Italica bowl...10 euros for me, $34 for you! Nuts, right? You can even find the adorable piggy banks made for Tiffany's (normally $120 each) selling for 15 euro in Nove. You're practically stealing it off the shelf at those prices. I'm really kicking myself now for not getting one of those piggies! And check out all the fiesta ware, ladies! Every color you could think of...wholesale...right there at your fingertips. I'd throw a fiesta just to have an excuse to buy those beauties! I also spent a few euro on some gorgeous pasta serving bowls and a couple of those cute chicken pitchers to give to my mom & mother-in-law.


Needless to say, this quaint Italian town is a ceramic goldmine and should be frequented by every kitchenware loving gal this side of the Atlantic Ocean. There are many treasures to behold in Italy, my friends!

    Agreed! Nove is fantastic and we loved VBC...well...I loved it. My husband tolerated it. I finally made my way out there a couple weeks ago and I'm already making a shopping list for next time.

    i dream of the day that i can buy housing goods that i won't have to sell when we move or box up and put into storage : ) and i can't believe those prices! unbelievable! i would need two extra bags with me!

    It looks like you have died & gone to dish heaven! All that FiestaWare... amazing!! I would love to go there and shop :) That's generally what I feel like any time I'm in a PX / BX - look what I'm getting for cheap... haha

    Holy crap! That's a steal!!! I recently developed a slight obsession for rooster decorations in my kitchen ... And my heart did a little jump when I saw the picture of the rooster lookin pitcher haha.

    I love Fiestaware!!! They are so durable and easily replaced if something does happen. Definitely adding Nove to the must shop list if we get to Italy!

    Let's go back and shop some more, yes?! I just finished unpacking all of my loot from Nove and I miss shopping there already. I'm loving all your posts from our blate together!! Can you believe I still haven't blogged about Burano? It's my favorite place, and I think I must be keeping it for myself.

    Those are amazing deals. It definitely puts things into perspective on how much items can be marked up in retail store or how much mark up value can be based on name alone, ie Tiffany's.

    One of the reasons I love visiting my mum (my boys 'Nonna') is because she a lot of shopping while stationed abroad with my dad. I love seeing all the Italian pottery! So glad you were able to find a jackpot there in Northern Italy!

    Wow these ceramics look amazing! The Italians are certainly talented artists! It sounds like everything is pretty reasonably priced as well. Do you know how far Nove is from Tuscany? My finance and I just booked a stay at one of the villas in Tuscany, Italy for our honey moon in March and I'd love to visit this shop and see Nove as well. I collect gnomes and would love to see if I can get lucky and find some ceramic Italian ones. ;)

    Round on the outside, this ceramic mug has a heart-shaped interior, not visible until filled with coffee. What is perfect with hearts? Chocolate! Fill this one with his or her favorite candies. steampunk mugs
