Sunday Social: End of Summer

Happy Sunday, friends!
Can you believe it's SEPTEMBER already? Holy cow. Time flies when you're having fun, right? Guess we've been having too much fun this summer because fall is quickly peeking around the corner. And that is something I am SUPER excited about! Fall is absolutely the greatest season of all four seasons, hands down (it is...don't argue with me). My love for fall might have something to do with the fact that I adore all things pumpkin, I look pretty darn good in the colors goldenrod and olive green, oh and my birthday is in October. That last one seals the deal every time. :) So, goodbye sundresses and sunscreen and hello colorful leaves and pumpkin spiced lattes! I've been waiting for you!

-What was your favorite trip/vacation/activity this summer?-
Hmmm...it's a draw between 4 different trips. My Big Fat European Family Vacation in May, our anniversary weekend at Lake Constance in July, going to Paris with my college roommate and her husband in August, and our most recent trip to London last weekend. All were completely different kinds of trips, but each were filled with lots of fun and awesome memories in some of the worlds most beautiful places! This summer is giving the summer D and I got married (2007) a serious run for its money.

{Lake Constance, Germany-5th Anniversary Week-July 2012}

{Paris, France-August 2012}

 {London, England-Round 2-August 2012}

 -Favorite outfit look of the summer/clothing item?-
I basically lived in sundresses. Well, only when Germany wasn't below 65 degrees. I also have this jean chambray shirt and jean jacket that I can't seem to get off my body. It was the summer of jean. Jean and sundresses. And apparently, for my husband, it was the summer of his turquoise J.Crew shirt. He literally wore it in every city we visited this summer. I've officially retired it for him. Thank you, Gap 30% off Labor Day sale.

{Palace of Versailles-Paris, France-August 2012}

{Trevi Fountain-Rome, Italy-May 2012}

-What is one thing you wish you had gotten to do this summer?-
D and I both were yearning for a beach vacation. We REALLY miss living by the ocean and having a tan. We tried our hardest to squeeze in a trip to Malta, but with all our other travel plans throughout the summer, it just didn't happen. We also would have loved to go home to NC to meet our new niece (born in early May) and to hug our sweet Tucker-dog. But, alas...we've gotta wait until Christmas for that.

-Favorite song of the summer?-
D and I have kind of been obsessed with Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons Greatest Hits 1 & 2 albums lately. Mostly because we were pumping ourselves up to see Jersey Boys in London last weekend (AH-MAZING show, by the way!). And now I can't get any of the songs out of my head. Good thing I'm not sick of them...yet. Below is a video of some of the songs we heard at the Jersey Boys show...same cast, just minus the theatrics. Go see this show, people. They've got them in NYC, Vegas, London, and traveling around the US.

-Favorite movie/TV show of the summer?-
Well, we didn't see many movies, but I guess my favorite would have to be either 21 Jump Street or What to Expect When You're Expecting. Both were hilarious! Seeing as it takes a little while for certain US movies to come out here on base in Germany, we've missed the newest Batman and Magic Mike. But, they come back around the end of this month and I'm hoping to catch them both. Especially Magic Mike. ;) I've also been obsessed with White Collar on the USA network...but you guys already knew that.

  1. I am obsessed with white collar too! :) Nice blog! :)

  2. I want a jean jacket like that so bad! Now that is it is getting cold already up here in Northern Europe I guess it will wait till next year!

  3. LOVE LOVE LOVE White Collar! Wow, you got to visit a lot of different places this summer! I love the dress you have on in the picture in front of Versailles. So cute!

  4. I just scrolled through the photos super quickly to see all of your great outfits!! I love the striped dress with red shirt in the Champagne photo.

  5. you had some amazing trips this summer! especially the Europe one!

    Happy Labor day weekend! Drop by nichollvincent.blogspot.com and say hello!

  6. That trip sounds so amazing! I didn't even get a vacay this year. I loved 21 Jump Street too. It was so funny. I especailly liked Johnny Depp's cameo.

  7. Wow! All the awesome places you've been able to see! So awesome! Plus, your outfits in every picture were way cute :)

    Girl, Magic Mike is good. Story line, not so much. Channing Tatum looking pretty, YES!

  8. I kind of want to photoshop myself into all of your gorgeous photos. HAHAHAHA! They are all SO beautiful. The downside of the USCG is that our chances of getting stationed overseas are extremely slim. Wah-wah.

    It looks like you had an epic summer!

  9. Love me some Paris! I'm jealous of how much you get to travel--I miss it so much!

  10. You sure got to go on some amazing trips this summer--and sundresses have been my outfit of choice, too, for all the hot days! You can't beat wearing something that doesn't smother you and looking cute at the same time!

  11. Found your blog through monday meet-up! I'm a Marine wife and we're getting stationed overseas soon too! :)
