While in Paris, I had a bit of an obsession with macarons, specifically Ladurée macarons. I had eaten a macaron (not to be confused the macaroon, America's often coconut covered dessert) from France once before while visiting Strasbourg, but it didn't compare to the deliciousness that is a Ladurée macaron. We may or may not have stopped three times at various Ladurée shops around Paris (the shop just along the Champs Elysées being my favorite) just so I could indulge in these little pillows of heaven. They are that amazing. With flavors like salted caramel, vanilla bean, raspberry, and lavender, what other sweet treat could you desire? Each little shop we went into was perfectly Parisian and dripping in gold accents, adorable dessert plates, and the sweet smell of baking pastries. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see why it's hard to resist such a decadent piece of Parisian history like Ladurée. D and I even visited the store within Harrods while we were on holiday in London just 2 short weeks later. I could hear the pistachio macarons calling me from the tube station. Who am I to ignore them? So if you ever find yourself in the "city of love" (or London or NYC), make a beeline for Ladurée to taste one of their scrumptious macarons. And send me a box or two, will ya? ;)
You are so cute! I've been seeing lots of pics of these macarons on Facebook here lately. I've never had one, but if they taste as good as they look, then I'm sure they're wonderful! I'll have to check it out the next time I'm in NYC. Hope you're well! :)
ReplyDeleteWe just ate the last of our Laduree macarons last night. So sad they're all gone! I'm super jealous you got pictures of the inside! I tried to take a picture with my iPhone & they freaked!
ReplyDeleteMacarons are yummy, and I guess there's nowhere you can get better ones than in Paris - haven't been to Ladurée, though. Instead I went to this adorable patisserie near the Jardin du Luxembourg. My sister made some herself last year, and they were just awesome, too!

ReplyDeleteI have never had either...but seriously who wouldn't love a cookie sandwich as my three year old put it while looking over my shoulder. ;) Ah Paris, one day I'll see you.
ReplyDeleteStopping by from the weekend showcase!
I am embarrassed to say that I have been to Paris twice since we moved to the United Kingdom and I have not been to Laduree even though I have been told to get my fanny over there. We are going back for our final visit before we PCS by the states in April and I have to get there. Your pictures are amazing.

What a pretty, pretty shop! Love all the pastel colors! If Laduree macarons are as good as you say, then I'm saving my first bite of macaron for when I get to Paris!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
