Just Checking In...

I hope everyone had a wonderful long Labor Day weekend! D and I had a fabulous time hopping around Liechtenstein, Austria and Germany these last 4 days, but I have to say, I'm pooped! The actual act of traveling (i.e. me sitting in the passenger seat of the car for HOURS on end) is my absolute least favorite thing to do. If someone could go ahead and invent a teleportation device, that would be grand. I'll take two of them, because I'm like an annoying 5 year old on road trips..."Are we there yet?"..."I've gotta pee, again!"..."I hate everything on the radio! Are we still not there yet?" D has the patience of a saint.

On another note, Liechtenstein? Totally blew us away. Truth be told, I was actually contemplating canceling that part of our trip because it was an extra hour away (and the car sitting was already getting the better of me) and while researching things to do...I realized, there isn't a whole heck of a lot to do in Liechtenstein. The country is the size of a Tic-Tac. No kidding...it claims an area of just 62 square miles. So, I kept thinking we were gonna be bored out of our gourds for our 24-hour stay there. Turns out, Liechtenstein was G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S! Absolutely worth the extra hour drive and 33 euro Swiss vignette. Our hotel was nestled into the side of a cliff overlooking all of Triesenberg (and probably most of Liechtenstein). The Alpine views were nothing short of awe-inspiriing. D and I even happened upon a restaurant (ok, so it was the only one open that night) and had some amazing beef stroganoff and local wine with completely uninhibited views of the Rhine River and some commanding mountains along the border in Switzerland. After stuffing our faces and taking about a million photos of the view, we spent the rest of the evening on our balcony sipping wine, eating gummy bears, and talking about how blessed we were to have the chance to see such places. Nothing like golden rays of sunlight beaming off a mountaintop to make you wax poetic about your life in Europe. My heart was all kinds of bursting.

[Just a few of the Instas from the Liechtenstein leg of our vacation]

Another thing making my heart sing this week? The fact that I'm boarding a plane destined for AMERICA tomorrow! Guys, I can't even begin to tell you how pumped I am for this trip home. In fact, this trip wasn't even supposed to happen. I told my parents the last time I was home (which was this past February) that would be my last visit before D and I actually move back to the states sometime in the summer of 2014. I didn't think either of us would have the time or the money to shlep back to the USA until the Air Force sent us there. After a lot of praying and money moving, God provisioned the perfect time and funds for me to make one last trip to North Carolina. So, today I'm packing my bags and praising the Lord for His continued faithfulness! He always knows what's exactly on my heart and that I'd been aching to see my family (and my Tucker-dog). Once again, unfortunately D won't be flying to NC with me. Major sad face. Although, he won't be far from us either. He's got a training class to attend stateside (in another part of the country), so he'll get a little taste of America as well. Which makes my leaving for home a little bit easier. I always feel bad when he's gotta play Air Force and I get to enjoy the states and time with our loved ones. I think he's just happy at least one of us gets to check in on our boy and spend some time with our little niece and nephew. And I'm ok with that, too.

While I'm back home with my family, the blog might be a little more quite than usual. I've got some posts scheduled and I hope to write some while my parents are occupied with their own jobs, but I'm not holding myself to any blogging schedules. I mean, can you blame me? Fresh Face Friday's will still happen, though...so be looking out for those posts (and the blog hop!) starting September 13th!

OH and question...would you guys like to see a VLOG starring me and my twin...ahem, I mean, little sister? I was thinking it might be fun to introduce blog world to the one other person who shares my same face (or at least one eerily close to it) and who could tell quite a few funny stories about growing up together looking way too much alike. Would that be something you'd watch? A sister vlog? I'm kind of stoked about the idea of this. Any questions you'd like for us to answer (the weirder the better...like does she also have Glamour Shots? Or what was it like growing up with such an awesome sister?). The answer to that one is obviously that it was the greatest thing ever, but I'll let her tell you so. ;) She's flying in from NYC to spend a week with me, so we've got a lot of catching up to do. A vlog seems like a fun way to do it. We also may or may not be having ourselves a little girls beach trip with mom, too. Excited doesn't even begin to describe it!! Ok, so my suitcase isn't going to pack itself. Next time you hear from me, I'll be blogging from Chick-Fil-A! Believe it. Adios, my friends!

  4. How amazing is that view?!? (rhetorical) I would give just about anything right now to have a car and a long roadtrip seeing Germany and surrounding countries instead of checking train schedules. I miss my car!!! (pity party over)

  8. I feel like Liechtenstein is one of those places you have to visit if you have the chance, because it's so random. especially if you're American - I mean, how many people in the US actually know Liechtenstein exists?? considering our country's shoddy methods of teaching geography? but anyway, that tiny little country looks absolutely gorgeous!

  10. Your pictures are absolutely gorgeous! I'm right with you on the teleportation device, but I think if I had one, I would never be home and wouldn't enjoy some of the fun I've had staycationing.

  14. Those photos are TO DIE FOR. I visited Liechtenstein a bus tour once and was blown away. We didn't get to go up the big castle, but we saw it from the bottom while it was being modified. I always wondered how the heck they got those big machines on the sides of cliffs...
