Sunday Social: Week 10

Linking up with Neely to talk about one of my favorite things in the whole world...FOOD!!


If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Cheese. I could never get sick of cheese. Any kind, too. Ok, except Brie. I can't get down with Brie...but all other cheeses are fair and delicious game. You basically could put cheese on anything and I would eat it. Add in a glass of wine with a platter of meats, olives, and fresh bread...and we'd be best friends for life. 

What's your guilty pleasure/comfort food?
Guilty pleasure: Pizza & Ice Cream (not together, obviously). Comfort food: Cereal...like Cinnamon Toast Crunch or Kellogg's Crunchy Nut. None of that Kashi cardboard crap. Cereal is my go-to meal when nothing else sounds good...or I'm too lazy to cook!

What's the weirdest/craziest thing you've ever eaten? 
Grilled octopus. No lie. And it wasn't all that bad!

What foods do you avoid at all costs? 
Bone-in chicken, lobster, fatty cuts of meat, gravy, tapioca, and black licorice. 
Yuck, yuck, yuck.

What meal reminds you of your childhood? 
Cheese Toast. My mom used to make me cheese toast for breakfast in the morning and I'd always ask for it when I was sick or feeling bad. Just proves the fact that cheese and bread makes everything better. Also proves why I ate a Croque Monsieur almost every day last week in Paris. Don't judge me.

Share one of your favorite recipes and the story behind it.
 We've had a hard time finding good fusion food in Germany. Germans aren't too hip to the mixing of flavors and creating dishes that explore multiple cultures in one bite. Or at least we haven't found a restaurant that does it to our liking just yet. So, this is my go-to recipe for fresh chinese/thai fusion food... Sesame Peanut Noodles from Nigella Lawson. You could use practically any long noodle and any veggies you want in this one. I usually throw in whatever veggies I have on hand at the time (as you see from the photos below, they all have a different array of veggies, but with the same flavor base). I also add a dash of rice wine vinegar to the dressing for an extra flavor layer when I'm feeling frisky. These noodles are great with a meat (like my yummy asian meatballs!), dumplings, or as a meal in themselves. And the leftovers are just as drool-worthy. So easy and SO delicious! I simply can't get enough of them.

  2. I am also unnaturally obsessed with cereal. I have forced myself to adapt my taste buds to the healthier kinds because I eat it so often, but the occasional bowl of Trix is THE BEST.
