A Quick 'Hallo' & Some Sneak Peeks!

Hallo, Freunde! Long time, no see! I know, I know. My fault. I just might be the worst blogger in the history of ever. Truth is, life's been busy here lately...which is totally a good thing. Since spring has made its appearance, D and I have emerged from our winter cocoons and are getting back in the swing of traveling! This past winter did an epic job of keeping us holed up indoors, so as soon as the sun started shining, the flowers started blooming, and the temps have been consistently above 40 degrees, Team Coté has been going non-stop! Nothing like 4 months of winter quarantine to make you stir-crazy for summer.

Since D and I only have 3 years here in Germany (well, now 2 years, 2.5 months left...insane, right?!), we've been diligent about planning trips and sight-seeing excursions. With such a short amount of time to see all the things we want to see in Europe, we've been trying our best to do at least two day trips a month and one big overnight trip every two or three months. The winter freeze out Germany experienced this year completely stifled our travel mojo and robbed us of some of our sight-seeing time. Granted, we still enjoyed five different German Christmas markets, a day trip to Strasbourg, France, and went skiing in Austria, but travel time still seemed to slip through our fingers. This totally gives me anxiety about trying to hit all the cities on our bucket list before the summer of 2014 comes knocking at our door and sends us back to America. I know we won't get to see EVERYTHING during our time here, but by golly we're gonna do and see as much as our bodies and wallets will allow!

March seemed to be the kick off month for our big spring/summer of traveling adventures. We started out with my having my cousin, Ashley, come visit us for a weekend. She's currently doing a study abroad program at a university in Coburg, Germany (a small town only 2.5 hours away from us) and the second the wheels of her plane touched down in Germany, we were planning our first meet up! After our weekend exploring St. Goar and Burg Rheinfels with Ashley, we were off to Ramstein to welcome two of our good friends to Germany! They are also stationed here in the land of lederhosen for the next 3 years and we'd been anticipating their arrival for months! As soon as they got settled in TLF, we made a trip to Heidelberg to explore the town and its historic castle. But the Tempia's couldn't get rid of us that quickly, just yesterday we all arrived home from a weekend trip to Holland to explore Amsterdam and see the famously beautiful Keukenhof Gardens! Folks, my camera has never been so full and my feet have never been so tired.

Exhausted is an understatement.

Needless to say, it's been so nice to be surrounded by familiar faces these last few weeks. It's also been nice to get back into traveling! With that being said, you should know I've been trying my darndest to keep up with this here blog of mine. That's proved to be more challenging than I'd anticipated. I've got pictures from 3 different trips/sight-seeing excursions that still need to be edited...not to mention the 400+ photos that are still stuck in my camera from our recent visit to Holland. I've also got day to day things like laundry to do, meetings to attend, and meals to cook...so, bear with me. I'm hoping to make blogging more of a priority, but I also can't promise that will happen. With all the travel plans we've made for the summer, my time in front of the computer will be limited. Forgive me when I do fall short of the ideal 2-3 posts per week, but truth be told, experiencing and enjoying life comes first. Blogging about said experiences comes second. Seems like the rightful order of things, no? As life keeps going, the stories may pile up...but rest assured they'll all be told in their own time. Shoot, I know I'll have plenty of time for blogging come winter! Haha...ugh.

For now, here are some sneak peeks of the posts I'm working on which chronicle our recent spring time travels. Enjoy!

  1. Love the photos as always! I can't wait to head into Germany. My husband and I are saving that until we A) know for sure that we're not staying in Europe, since Germany is where we'd go. Or B) until we leave and we'll travel around Germany before getting on the rotator. You make me want to visit SO bad. It looks like places are straight out of a fairy tale!

  4. Ah, I love tulips so much! Absolutely gorgeous photos. I thought Heidelberg was absolutely adorable. My favorite part of the day there was sitting outside a cafe, eating breakfast, watching the town wake up!
