Everyone has a bucket list; a list of things you want to do before you die, but what about short term goals and dreams? Things you know have a good chance of accomplishing within 5 to 10 years? I hadn't thought to write them down, until recently. Sometimes it feels like time is slipping through my hands. Rather than fall into a deep depression thinking about all of the shoulda, coulda, woulda's I've passed on through the years, I'm going to meet 30 head on. Hopefully, by the time that ominous day comes, I'll be able to give myself a commanding pat on the back for all the awesome things I've accomplished. I can hear the commentary now..."You're young, why worry now?!" Truthfully, I don't want 30 to sneak up and smack me in the face, so I've got a little over 5 years to make all these things happen. I tried to make the list fun and exciting, while keeping in mind I have a time limit to consider and a bank account to avoid depleting. My list of items seems attainable given all the variables that make up my life, and many of them will prove to make me a better person. World traveler, educated citizen, and a more fulfilled person all by the age of 30? Challenge accepted.
Besides, 30 is the new 20, right?
For every item on the list that I don't accomplish by age 30, I will donate $100 to be split among the ASPCA and the USO.

ReplyDeleteOooo, this is so inspiring! I want to do my own now :-) Although, that only gives me 1.5 years (eeek)
ReplyDeleteHey There,
ReplyDeleteI stumbled across your blog from Carrie's "Chasing Big Dreams" blog on linking up community and I was drawn to your 30 by 30 link. I LOVE your project. 30 is only 3 years away for me but I've been very inspired to make a bucketlist and try and reach some of those goals. I recently learned about The Buried Life and their book "What do you want to do before you die?" I bet it would inspire you to keep going for the items on your list. Thanks for sharing this!
Hi Casey! I just found your blog via the Follow Me Maybe link up. :) I love your 30 by 30. I have something similar, a 30 before 30 in my series section. But I really love that you will donate money to the ASPCA and the USO. I'm prior Air Force (I see you are in Germany; I did a stop there on my way to deployment) and a big animal lover so I really love that!
ReplyDeleteI love your read 100 new books. I'm a reader too and very much enjoyed The Hunger Games series. How did you like it?
Oh ride a train is one of my life goals. I want to take the Amtrak up the west coast, rent a little room on it and everything. I think it would be lovely!
Anyway, glad to find ya!

I'm working on one of my own and stumbled upon yours! You have a great collection. Travel Germany is on mine, so I'll have to get your opinion on where to visit. Just three years now for me. Why wait your whole life to accomplish some goals is right! Good luck on completing it( but I love that you're donating if you don't meet your goals!)
ReplyDeleteYou have inspired me to go ahead and make a list like this of my own. My new goal beginning in 2013!!!

I wish I'd seen this first... My list is 101 Things in 1001 Days. I'm slowly trudging through it, but I'm not sure I'll get everything done! 30 by 30 would be much more doable...

I LOVE your list! Mine is a little less exciting, but I have a list obsession. Good luck!
