Anything that had to do with the Eiffel Tower--whether it was standing under it, on it, or relaxing on a picnic blanket on the lawn in front of it--those were the best parts of our Paris vacation, in my opinion. If I had to pick one highlight of the whole shebang...it would be a toss up. A toss up between the said picnicking and wine drinking on the Champs de Mars as the Eiffel Tower sparkled in the moonlight (post to come!) AND drinking a glass of real French champagne as we stood on the top floor of the Eiffel Tower itself. Two more of those "pinch me" moments locked in my heart forever. Can you blame me for not being able to choose? Both were amazingly memorable events all circled around one iconic landmark of love. Of course, they both also involve drinking, but why wouldn't they? I mean, have you met me? ;) Even though that glass of champagne put D and I back a whole €10 a piece, it was worth every bubbly drop. And the memories of a day spent marveling over the Parisian skyline with two of our dearest friends? Well, that's priceless.
{Video of our views from the top floor of the Eiffel Tower--complete with really awful French word pronunciations from yours truly. Accents aren't my strong suit, obviously.}

I remember the feeling when I first laid eyes on the eiffel tower in person... butterflies. It was totally unexpected to me, because Paris was never one of those places i just HAD to see. But I'm so glad I did.
ReplyDeleteSame here, Erica!
DeleteGorgeous photos. I was just telling my husband that I hope we get to go back to Paris and/or France before we move away from Europe.
ReplyDeleteI love that you have a picture of you and D kissing. We have one, too, be we were sort of in an argument at the time (who fights at the Eiffel Tower? I mean, seriously?!), but the person taking it made us kiss so we'd "remember the moment forever." Done.
Love the photos!! I don't remember much of our weekend trip to Paris (it was 10 years ago!) but I do remember being at the top of the Eiffel Tower. How can you forget that?
ReplyDeletethe eiffel tower is so magical to me. definitely one of my favorite things about paris. It just gives me chills looking at these pictures!
ReplyDeleteI would love to visit the top of the Eiffel Tower someday, but just looking at your pictures made me a little queasy! Heights aren't my strong suit, apparently.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos. I haven't been to Paris for a couple of years (although am planning a trip there this summer when we move back to Europe from Canada). One of my absolute favourites is a picnic looking across at the tower - if the sun is shining then even better!
ReplyDeleteFound you via the Tuesday Tango and looking forward to following via Bloglovin.

Haha! I know exactly how you feel about the Eiffel Tower. When my friend and I emerged from the subway and got our first glimpse of the tower in the distance, it was all I could do to keep myself from screaming and jumping up and down like a little schoolgirl. A "pinch me" moment for sure. Your pictures make me want to go back sooo badly. And now I want a picture of my husband and I kissing at the top. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures as always.
ReplyDeleteWow! I don't think I have enough words to express my jealousy ;) Looks like such an incredible time! I would love to visit Paris someday.
ReplyDeleteWow you really got some fantastic shots! It's definitely one of those landmarks that is NOT overrated one bit. I love when it sparkles at night. Somehow I've never gone to the top, but this sure makes me reconsider during my next trip.
ReplyDeleteC'est magnifique! The view is truly spectacular - I can see why people would line up for HOURS to go up the iconic tower.
ReplyDeleteOh, Paris. I've been trying (unsuccessfully!) to convince my fiance we should honeymoon there -- but he's been before and wasn't all that impressed. Crazy, right?! I mean, it's PARIS! Going to show him your post... perhaps the champagne will help sway him.
ReplyDeleteI love your face in that first picture of you... in pure awe! I have gotta go to paris sometime in my life... seeing the one in Vegas in not cutting it!
ReplyDeleteAwesome pics!! I've been twice and loved it both times. I celebrated my 23rd birthday on that gorgeous green lawn when I was studying abroad. Your pics brought back such wonderful memories for me :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures!! What camera bag do you use?
ReplyDeleteWOW!! I am blown away by your photos, so gorgeous. :)
ReplyDeleteI will never forget my trip to Paris, one of my favorites from my time in Europe! I never made it to the top of the Eiffel Tower though - we decided to take the stairs but they only went to the second level!
ReplyDeleteWhen I lived in Le Vésinet (a suburb just 20 minutes out of Paris), my friends and I picnicked along the Champs de Mars all the time. It was one of our favorite things to do. Friday nights, Saturday afternoons, Saturday nights... It never grew old.
ReplyDeleteParis me manque beaucoup!
We will be there this summer and I cannot wait!! So excited to see these views! Looks so pretty!
ReplyDeleteWe went for our 9th anniversary last August and I already want to go back.

If we ever go to Europe we really have no desire to go to France but we have to go to Paris! I love all of your pictures!
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous! One day I will make it to Paris! Beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteWow what awesome photos I think it would be awesome to go to Paris but doubt I will ever be lucky enough to get there........so thank you so much for sharing these photos with us.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! It's so awesome, as you get older (not that I'm old or anything), to have a series of perfect moments to remember. Even better to blog about them so you don't forget them.
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh. These pics are gorgeous! I'm so jealous.
ReplyDeletethese pictures look amazing. Paris is on my list of places to see for sure.
ReplyDeleteoh Casey, these pictures are gorgeous, but my ears are positively bleeding from hearing you try to say Les Invalides. eek.
ReplyDeleteHow gorgeous! Thanks for sharing your experience with Paris - even if the drinks cost a bomb!
ReplyDeleteSure looks worth it..and yeah My French is no longer up to scratch (studied it while in highschool!)
I love your face in that first photo of y'all up on the Tower--that's pretty much how I felt about Paris in general :) We've got to go back so that we can go up to the very top. They closed it down for the night when we were the next people in line to buy tickets--so close!! So glad you had such a magical time.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos as usual! I haven't visited Paris (yet!), but it is definitely on my bucketlist. Random side question- where is your purse from? I need a good travel cross-body purse like that.

ReplyDeleteGreat photos and commentary. My wife would certainly agree with your passion for champagne! During our most recent visit, the Eiffel Tower made quite an impression on us, too. In fact, we bought a piece (yes, it is possible---pricey and difficult, but possible) and have started a venture allowing people to own beautiful jewelry made with an actual piece of the Eiffel Tower! How's that for something different and special? Feel free to take a look: www.korbella.com Enjoy Germany and all your travels; I used to live in Heidelberg. May you always hold Paris in your heart and in your dreams!
